Don’t have room in your schedule (or the inclination?) to exercise? Perhaps it’s time to change your approach!
Consider the following:
-
Muscle weighs more than fat, but is leaner (read smaller!) and more toned. You’ll go down in size quicker with more muscle tone and look sleeker. And you’ll keep the furnace burning longer.
-
Weight-bearing exercise strengthens bones and reduces the risk of osteoporosis. As we age (typically, after age 30), bone thinning is a natural process. Mitigate!
-
High amounts of “total body fat” are related to the risk of many life-threatening diseases. Check your BMI here.
-
Ever heard of the “runner’s high”? It’s not a myth; your body releases endorphins when you exercise, which raises your spirits naturally. (Your self-esteem jumps up a few notches as well!).
Whether you choose walking, running, pilates, yoga, team sports, tennis, working out in the gym or something else, you’ll feel and look better when you incorporate movement in [...]

Jen Mueller, sports reporter and CEO of Talk Sporty to Me is a new Savor Premium member, so I thought it fitting to post an interview we did last year about a story she was told by John Nordstrom - the infamous Nordstrom Tire Story.
For those not familiar with Nordstrom, it had a tradition for many years as one of the models for creating a customer service-focused business with a worldwide reputation - not just for department stores - but for business in general. When you have great customer service, you stand a great chance to develop customer loyalty.
From a sales standpoint, this ties into business growth, since hanging on to existing customers and growing those relationships is actually easier than going off to find more customers.
The link is hosted at Score More Sales - listen here, but would love your comments back on this blog to the following questions:
1. What companies do YOU love for exemplary customer service?
2. Do you connect great customer service with c [...]

As I attempt to explain the powerful keys to business success I have discovered through my own business growth journey, I think it is important to share my personal experiences with these tools. I get inspired to research and focus on things based on what happens in my life, so I thought I would share what is happening.
I have always found it hard to ask for help. Since I was a teenager I have prided myself on being an independent woman who can take care of herself and knows how to get shit done. As a result I have always resisted against asking for help because I didn’t think it was an option. And over time, because I didn’t ask for help, I simply became unaccustomed to not doing so.
Having pursued this path for so many years, I was astounded by what happened when I opened myself up to seeking and accepting the support of others. And having seen the light I cannot emphasize enough how much difference the right support in your personal and professional life ca [...]

This week's Woman of the Week is Lisa Hufford, Founder and President of Simplicity Consulting, Inc. Lisa's company was ranked #54 on Inc.'s 500 list in 2011, and in 2012, her company brought in a cool $14.2 million.
As a new Premium Member of Savor the Success, we are also looking forward to having Lisa as a speaker for this year's Woman Entrepreneurs Rock the World conference about personal branding and how to use it to create massive success.
During my recent visit to Seattle, we sat down for lunch and talked about today's entrepreneurial world, how women need to stick together to help one another, and how successful entrepreneurs do more than they talk.

What's your story? How did you get started?
I started my business in 2006 because I was looking for flexibility after having my second child. After working 14 years in sales management and business development roles for large corporations, including Microsoft, I realized that I had the desirable skills that allowed me [...]

Hi Savor Sisters,
I was thinking of you and wanted to post this. It was written last summer, and with Spring Break coming up, I thought it pertinent to help you enjoy your vacations.....
Here it is:
About halfway though my vacation last week, I got this disturbing thought that my business must be falling apart because my staff is announcing a price increase for the fall. I had this picture in my mind of all these irate people quitting left and right. And, who the heck was I vacationning in Disney leaving my staff behind to deal with this? Common fears I'm sure for any business owner who raises prices in any economy, let alone this one. So, not wanting these ideas to erode one further second of my awesome vacation, I put on my imaginary time millionaire hat.
And I remembered that by worrying I was actually being arrogant. That's right; not a responsible business owner or caring employer. Arrogant. Why is that? Well, worrying implies that I am more capable, smart, resourceful, etc. [...]

Tired of trying new diets and systems? Disheartened that nothing works and convinced that you can’t lose weight? Resigned to living larger than life (no pun intended!) but in your heart of hearts, know that there is another person inside whom you’d love to meet? I hear you! Perhaps you need to change your self-talk. The solution might be as simple as getting out of your own way. Wow! Could it really be that easy? Yep, it really can!
Did you know that when you are thinking in the right frame of mind, your cells are more energized? Which means (drum roll, please!) they burn more efficiently and effectively. YAY! But, do you see yourself as fat and/or you’re convinced that your metabolism runs at a snail’s pace? What kind of self-talk is going on in that head of yours? With the right mindset, you will let go of attachment to food (and to results!) and then watch the magic happen when you are allowing and not pushing things away! Experts recommend vision boards and affirmations as [...]

I bet you've been wondering where I've been hiding and what the heck I'm doing with the grant money.
Well I had a come-to-Jesus moment late last year and had to accept that my growth strategy for Mom Gets A Life wasn't working. It was disappointing to admit but it was necessary.
When we originally launched we focused on building a virtual community. It grew but not at the rate I expected.
I made the decision to refocus our efforts on live events. Although I wanted to create a community virtually for ease-of-use I found that what moms really crave personal contact.
The changes we've put in place have yielded amazing results. Almost all our events have sold out and our list is growing! Here are a few shots from our Holiday event.
We're still on track to launch the first Mom Gets A Life conference but rather than invest the grant money in a down payment for our location we are directing it toward marketing initiatives.
These marketing initiatives will help us uplevel [...]

Recently I had a conversation with Savor member Sue Zimmerman, a high energy, successful serial entrepreneur, mentor, and founder of the Sueb.do brand and Computer Companion in the Boston area. Sue told me she has eliminated nearly all of the paper within her business that most business owners toil over.
According to Brother's "Cost of Disorganization" Study, an estimated 38 working hours (or close to one work week) per person each year are lost as a result of looking for misplaced items in the office.
Here is the audio of my 16 minute video interview with Sue, plus some time notes below at the specific times for specific topics. This means you can skip ahead to what you'd like to hear about. At the end, I'd love to see your comments posted on what tools you use to be more organized. Is removing paper from your business in your future? For me, I'm not there yet, but I am intrigued and am trying out more of the tools Sue mentions.
