Jumpstart your day…by Starting the Night Before!

    February 1, 2012
  • Don’t you love to start the day off energized and relaxed, knowing that wonderful surprises are coming your way?  How often do your days start that way though? If you answered that it isn’t as often as you’d like, here are some ideas to change that trend:

Today starts with a bit of organizing and prepaving the night before. Following is a glimpse into some things you could add to your evening (and morning) routine:

    1.       Make a list: Update your To Do list for the next day, noting anything you need to remember to bring with so you can run errands, and are fully prepared for anything else you plan to do.

-Put those things by the door where you will see them (even in a rushed, blurry state it's better to trip over them than to forget them, right?).

-Set out clothes for the next day (including a fresh pair of stockings so you aren’t searching frantically!). I’ve been wearing Wolford tights all winter-warm, stylish and don’t run!). Are your shoes polished? Need new heels? Anything need mending or dry cleaning? Get it all done ahead of time so you are calm, cool, collected and polished!

-Throw laundry in the washer and write yourself a note to put the load in the dryer when you get up. (Same with the dishwasher if that is ready-do this in the morning with your breakfast dishes).

-For a special treat, I put a towel on the heating rack that they have in Europe so it will be nice and cozy when I get out of the shower in the morning. What can you do to pamper yourself-even during the morning rush?

-Set out supplements, prepare lunch and/or snacks for the next day so you have more control over how you are fueling your body. Try putting a note to yourself next to your car keys when you want to remember something in the fridge-it works the charm!

    2.       Before bed:  Be really committed to getting yourself into bed with enough time to get a good night’s sleep. Then, prepave for tomorrow. Start with a gratitude list and then move into visualizing the coming day. Be sure to add in a few unexpected surprises. I love those and have so much fun noting them when they happen-realizing that I created them!

    3.      In the morning: Wake up feeling refreshed, confident and positive. Run quickly through your gratitude list and again visualize your day-running smoothly and full of fabulous people and events!

    4.      Take a couple moments to be sure you have everything you need before you walk out the door. Put stuff in the dryer if you started the wash in the morning and it has finished. The final step? Turn on your positive energy play list on your Mp3 on the way to your first appointment, dropping off the kids or to the office-infusing you with fabulous energy that will last the whole day long!

What do you do to ensure your day is effortless and full of fabulousness?  What are the top high energy songs on your play list? Can’t wait to hear! Please share your thoughts below or email me at ellen@yourtransformationcoach.com.
