Four (summer perfect) Ways To Create That Next BIG Business Breakthrough!

    June 30, 2011
  • I got so much positive feedback about this article, I thought I would share it here with you.

If you are like most of my clients, you are asking yourself, “Where is my next BIG breakthrough in my business”?  Or, you are wondering how to be discovered and noticed by the right customer on a grander scale.  Or, you think what you are doing is great but a little too small for you, you are not alone.

The truth is we are all asking ourselves that question.

And, I think summer is a great time, while sales are naturally slower, to recalibrate and position ourselves better when the fall comes.

I have seen this cycle repeatedly over my 30 years in big business.  That is why there are a great many summer sales and companies like Apple release new versions of their most coveted products (the iphone) at slower times of the year.  They are outsmarting the cycle and attempting to spark sales when they are typically slower.

I want to challenge you to use this time for something else.  I think this is the time to focus more intently on your business and think about how you can create your next Big breakthrough both financially and professionally.

    Tip #1:

Think about what you love to sell the most of.  What product or service, that you currently offer, is your top seller?  Think about how you could enhance it or add more value to it and come out with an updated version in the fall.  Mark up the price and start planting seeds about it with your audience now.

    Tip #2:

Think about where you really want to be with your business.  Do you want to change directions a bit?  Make a list of those people who are at the top of their game or are where you want to go.  Find a way to rub elbows with them.  Call them and ask them for an interview or ask if they would be willing to tell you what steps they took to create a big breakthrough.  Maybe you want to send them a sample and ask for their feedback about how to make it more marketable.

    Tip #3:

Who is the one person that could help you take your business to the next level?  Can they help you get a speaking gig?  Could you use their endorsement?  Do you know they would LOVE your product or service?  Write down one name, find something you both have in common and reach out to them.  Just do it!  (I recently found someone who heads up a HUGE event of the right people for me.  I am going to call her and talk to her about being able to speak at her conference next year) What will you commit to doing?

    Tip #4:

Revisit previous customers and check in with them.  Ask them how they are doing and see if they can tell you some tangible results that have come from using your product or having bought your service. Turn that information into new sales messages and post about it on social media.  This will rejuvenate you…it’s the equivalent of taking your business to the spa!

    Bonus Tip:

When talking to your previous customers, see if there is anything new they need or if they would like to do business together again.  You are going to be surprised at the high percentage of them that say, “I was just thinking about you and wondering how we could work together again”.  Have something ready to offer!

In my experience, big breakthrough’s come when we take risks and ask for what we want.  It goes well beyond the actions we take, it becomes a pure intention that shows we are serious about going to the next level.  That is when the universe starts organizing everything around us and brings that BIG breakthrough we most want!

Please post your comments or questions so we can have a lively dialog.  Julie
