  • Good question, huh?  I guess run the company is the wrong answer, so what should a good board do?  And, who should be included?

Personally, I'd want my dream team: accountant, lawyer, tech person, marketing person, niche representative.  Who's missing?  And, what did you have your board do for you?

    Many thanks, Dina

  • I've been toying with the AB question for about a year now...for me...an ideal AB would help me sell tickets, garner the additional celebrities I need for my show and perhaps secure some designers that I have not been able to reach.

  • So, Jen, it sounds like you want your AB to give their connections in addition to their advice.   Can't wait to check out celebritycatwalk...so sound fun.

    Best, Dina

  • One of my mentors, Thomas Leonard, (1955-2003) known in circles as the ‘father of coaching’ did something magnificent.  He created an R/D team made up of people he knew, ezine subscribers and people who had purchased his products.  He had over 1000 business owners on that team when he died.

I had such an R/D team, but with 100 subscribers.  But two years ago, I shut it down. Why? I realized that I needed it had gone stale.  People weren’t contributing as often, the level of contribution was down, etc.  I realized that my R/D team was no longer based on the client I was trying to reach.  So I reengineered my ideal client profile.  And now it’s time to start it up again.

Power Alliances, R/D Teams, Advisory Boards – whatever they maybe called, whatever reason they’re created, need to keep up with  your business direction.  I don’t want “yes men”, I don’t want lots of people like me – but they have to agree with my vision.  And my former list didn’t do that.

I wanted to show you Thomas’s R/D team page – the one I subscribed to many years ago; however, the page is gone.  So the best I can do is show you my page – which was developed based on Thomas’s original version. (which he allowed, those of us who graduated from his coaching school to do)  http://www.ElevatingYourBusiness.com/rd/   Maybe having an R and D Team will help you!?!
