I am the founder and CEO of Dogtopia, a dog daycare and boarding franchise. I started with one location in Tysons Corner, VA in 2002. We had challenges with everything. Funding, lease negotiation, employee management, etc - but we learned and thrived. Today we have 24 locations across the US, 20 franchisees and three company-owned in the DC area.
For the past year I have been working on a product to use in our stores. As I have developed it I have also discovered the large consumer potential. It is like having a start-up all over again, and I am loving every minute of it. It has taught me that I am truly an entrepreneur at heart.
