Where Art Means Business is the motto published author, writing coach and workshop leader Christy Heady injects into all aspects of the time she spends serving her clients.
In 2008, Christy turned her passion and 20 years of experience writing her own books and magazine articles into a thriving coaching, mentoring and writing workshop business. From concept to completion, clients work on their projects and writing dreams one-on-one with Christy or with her and other writers in an encouraging workshop setting.
Her clients achieve a sense of accomplishment, esteem and validation for their book or writing projects. Manuscript editing and development are also involved depending on the project. Each client learns her or his creativity and desire for publication works in tandem with the love of the craft and the desire for a successful writing career.
As an Amherst Writers & Artists Affiliate, certified to lead writing workshops and retreats in the AWA method as described in Writing Along & With Others by Pat Schneider, Oxford University Press, Christy Heady shows participants how to dive into their creative genius courageously and safely. Her specialty includes designing customized workshops for women entrepreneurs seeking to inject more creativity into their businesses. Men and women wanting to write their memoirs will tap into Christy's knowledge about how to use their memories and their imaginations to create powerful prose.
As a successful published author and writer, and TV/film writer/producer, Christy has developed a method for industry-respected book proposals, which helped her turn her own manuscripts into selling almost half a million copies of all editions of her published books.
Her books include Buzz: How to Create It and Win With It, co-authored with former New York City Mayor Edward I. Koch, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Making Money on Wall Street (1994), now in its fourth edition, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Managing Your Money (1995), now in its third edition and co-authored with her father, the late Robert K. Heady, and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Making Money in the New Millennium (2000). Her Wall Street book is the first non-computer title in the Complete Idiot's Guide series and held the #1 sales spot for several years after publication.
Her upcoming book is A Single Mom's Guide to Spiritual Parenting, which takes an in-depth look into the many creative ways single moms from around the world infuse spirituality into their lives at home with their children. A single mom since her son was 14 months old, Christy and her four-year-old live in St. Simons Island, Georgia, where they enjoy playing soccer and making tiny sandcastles at the beach.
