I am a woman who is very high energy, spiritually-based, and conscious of the message I have to offer.
I originally lived in an orphanage, was adopted and moved to the housing projects of the inner city in So. Boston or “Southie” as it is called by those of us who know it well. I have always had a vision and wanted more adventure and more experiences. I wanted to live life not survive it. Rather than simply marrying right after high school graduation as was the norm, I wanted to become a social worker and yet knew no one in the field.
I also had a father who didn’t believe in educating girls. As a Plan B I attempted nursing school yet because my high school in the inner city was unaccredited nursing school would not accept me.
Consequently, I became a Catholic nun in a community that did social work. As a sister, Sr. James Marie, I was sent to college where my school accreditation was irrelevant if I achieved the required grades which I easily did. In there I began doing social work.
After a few years, and upon leaving religious life, I chose to see the world I had missed and became an international airline stewardess for TWA and moved to Manhattan to be based out of Kennedy Airport. “Cultural shock” is an understatement yet that term became a normal part of my life.
In addition, I have been married, divorced and a single mom who has put her children through Georgetown and Cornell. I have been a practicing psychotherapist since 1983, adjunct faculty in a graduate school, a clinical instructor at the University of Connecticut medical school, and the founder of the Institute of Healing Arts and Sciences, LLC along with too many other adventures to mention.
My institute ultimately became the only Energy Medicine school in the country, with a 4 yr. curriculum, focusing on the psycho/spiritual causes of physical disease, within which my 3rd and 4th yr students did mandatory medical internships in the one of the over 40 hospitals and/or medical facilities we were affiliated with across the country. In addition, we became approved by the Commissioner of the Department of Higher Education in Connecticut.
I have authored 4 books and am now writing my 5th. This will be called The Unclaimed Life. My message throughout each is that without a dream we are surviving this journey not living it. When we truly live this journey, when we give ourselves permission to dream, and to dream big, not only do we open ourselves up to success, whatever that means to us, we also create an inner environment which supports health and healing. Our health and our success are dependent upon having our energy flowing throughout our bodies; our dreams and the permission to live them do just that.
As a woman who has been speaking to audiences for over 25 years that is the message I share. Along with the realization that we are the gift we give to those we love. It is not what we bring or what we do, we, ourselves, are the gift. When women specifically, although not solely, get that message so much will change in our lives. We will learn to give from passion, not will, and from love not unrealistic expectation. Joyfully and passionately living this journey is what I embody and want to share on a far greater level that I have been.
My children are grown, I have closed the Institute, I have moved back to the states after living in the Caribbean on Anguilla, BWI for several years, commuting back to the USA to teach at my institute, and so I am now free to travel and speak throughout the world. That is my next dream.
I have been a guest on an extensive amount of radio and TV shows, in several countries most recently on the OWN Network, as a guest on the Lisa Oz show, and stations in Hartford and Boston. I will be featured in Hartford Magazine in March yet this is only the beginning of what I want.
