My opportunity to venture into the retail business came from a dream I had years earlier about settling down in a "Norman Rockwell" sort of town were life isn't so busy, (being a Real Estate Agent and Mortgage Broker for years) I had recently purchased my first home when I stumbled across this diamond in the ruff, the previous owners supplied the town with quality boots for work or hunting some accessories too, gloves, hats and so on..he also was the local income tax expert and during tax season serviced over 600 both personal and business income taxes. In researching some history of the town when I bought the building, I found that the business was once named Hunters Haven years before so I decided to continue running the store as the previous owner so I renamed it Hunters Haven, I put everything into my business, my dreams of owning my own business and living in a quite town were I can offer something tangible to the community that was in 2005, I have expanded to include all the latest in hunting and fishing gear even the Pennsylvania Lottery I even issued hunting and fishing license for next to nothing in commissions but it was all for the love of the success I could see in my children that made it all worth while, it wasn't easy and it continues to be harder with the economy and the job losses I went from near success to near bankrupt, having to return much of my merchandise and reducing the hours I was open to save on utilities it's been a challenge to continue the American Dream of owning your own business.
