GENEVE SKYE: philanthropic entertainment
Jennifer Murray is the founding Chairman of GENEVE SKYE, LLC, and Executive Producer of the company’s exclusive and co-productions.
Having witnessed the common struggles early-start social sector founders face in funding endeavors of widespread community impact, founder Jennifer Murray was inspired to create a company whose majority profits are used to bring financial viability and organizational sustainability to entrepreneurial humanitarian organizations.
GENEVE SKYE is a philanthropic entertainment company that has married the needs of humanitarian aid organizations and social entrepreneurs with the overwhelming profitability available through the over $11 billion dollar entertainment industry.
Through the production and financing of values-based films crafted to infuse inspiring, hope-filled messages highlighting issue awareness, GENEVE SKYE’s productions are designed to challenge individuals to live life intentionally and with purpose. As a social entrepreneur, Jennifer Murray leads the company in encouraging those with a vision to step beyond their comfort zone to explore innovative concepts with the potential for generating solutions to narrow-focused and wide-scale societal challenges.
In an era when many celebrities and philanthropists are giving generously and expressing intense interest in impacting communities in need, GENEVE SKYE believes these contributions can be maximized for greater societal impact when coupled with the platform provided and the revenue generated in cooperation with every-day Americans through their entertainment purchases.
Previously, as a founding board member and executive with The First Response Team of America—a non-profit changing the way disasters are responded to in rural America—Jennifer Murray was inspired and contributed in the areas of organizational strategy, structure and development; public relations; media relations; marketing communication and resource development.
The First Response Team has been honored for their contribution to disaster-stricken communities throughout the United States. In October 2008, a distinguished Blue Ribbon Panel honored the founder—nominated by Ms. Murray—as a Top Ten CNN Hero for 2008. The founder is currently in the running for #1 CNN Hero of the year, which generates $100,000 for the honoree. CNN’s Anderson Cooper will award the honoree at an all-star tribute Thanksgiving
2008.
Jennifer was civically engaged in the development of The First Response Team of America, in a pro-bono consulting capacity, during the year preceding the non-profit launch where she lent her expertise and passion for helping others because she wholeheartedly stands in agreement with the founder that, "America deserves this type of response."
In the academe, Jennifer Murray has served in the Center for Civic Engagement at Rice University as a director of the leadership development program, Leadership Rice, where her primary responsibilities centered on preparing emerging leaders for positions of life-long leadership. Jennifer taught and co-taught Leadership Theory to Practice, the advanced Leadership Practicum, Entrepreneurial Leadership, Creativity and the special topics Leadership Certificate Seminar on Dialogue, Values and Ethics. In addition to course and curriculum development, she directed the Summer Mentorship Experience, administered grants and cultivated general program support.
Prior to joining Rice University, Jennifer established GENEVE Strategies, a communication consultancy servicing higher education, non-profit and entrepreneurial markets in Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Engagements concentrated on corporate communications, leadership development and communication strategy.
Throughout her career, Jennifer has developed professional relationships with a broad spectrum of organizations that contribute positively to society, including the United Nations World Food Programme, Capital One Bank, the Department of Education, Fox News, the City of Houston Office of the Mayor, National Science Foundation and The National Diversity Council.
Jennifer has completed doctoral work in Strategic Leadership and holds a graduate degree in Journalism with a specialized research focus on the Creative Process of Entrepreneurship.
