My name is Jules Smith and I own a fledgling online nightwear shoppe. We sell Victorian-inspired, traditional 100% natural cotton nightgowns and pajamas for ladies, girls and boys imported from England. We currently sell the British collection of Powell Craft nightwear/gift accessories and I have become their largest US retailer.
I started the business in May of 2009 as a hobby. I had previously lived in England for nine years and came across this fabulous nightwear for myself and daughter while living here. When my husband, daughter and I moved back to the USA, it soon became apparent this is not a collection easily found. Dora and Sponge Bob - yes! Traditional nightwear - not so much. The 'ah ha' moment hit. The hobby has now become a real business and our small company of er--- 2 (!) is soon to reach 1000 items sold so far this year online. We have recently relocated back to England and I am running the business from a barn in the picturesque countryside. The shipping is being dispatched from the USA.
While the business has been growing, I would like to take it to the next level and ramp up the momentum. We have been getting approached by blogs and magazines to take part (have been in Victoria Magazine twice) and last year, the nightwear participated in a number of charity silent auction events, such as 'Plan a Baby' in Hollywood.
My main goal is to gain the knowledge and leads to push this into our target market further espeically with the upcoming holiday season, as well as getting it in the hands of celebrity Moms, be a source for production companies, photographers and learn how to really stand out. I have started to brainstorm the idea of creating my own designs to add to the collection.
The fabulously positive feedback we have had from customers shows us that we may have found quite a niche in the market. We have become well known for our stellar customer service - very important to us to remember those all important customer details and it is our mission to provide our lovely customers with the same service and appreciation they would expect as if they were walking through the doors of a storefront. I really believe in this business and look forward to being a member of Savour the Success.
