Kristin Bennett Butterfield spent the last twelve years as Senior Director of Research and Trends at The Intelligence Group. After more than a decade of talking with consumers of all kinds (with an emphasis on Generation X and Y), she has a wealth of expertise and insight into consumer trends and market dynamics. Kristin has conducted hundreds of ethnography/lifestyle studies, focus groups and panels, and has spearheaded an ongoing network of parent, tween and teen “consultants” in her years with The Intelligence Group.
Kristin has particular expertise as a consultant helping brands to effectively capture mom consumers. She regularly presents her insights to Fortune 500 companies such as Disney, Microsoft, and 20th Century Fox (News Corp), among many others. She has received honors for such presentations, such as the audience chosen best speaker (You Take the Cake) award at the annual Marketing to Moms conference.
She is an ongoing consultant for youth-focused, non-profit organizations and has helped guide and create strategies and campaigns focusing on millennials for The Gates Foundation, The President's Council on Service, The Trevor Foundation, The Case Foundation, The National Constitution Center and YouthAids. In addition, she was on the initial marketing committee that launched the nonprofit Malaria No More. In this position, she helped to craft a grassroots marketing strategy to engage people in helping to bring malaria under control in Africa, which included the premiere of of Idol Gives Back.
For six years, Kristin co-authored a New York Times syndicated column with Jane Buckingham, entitled “Next.” She also served as a senior writer and editor of “The Cassandra Report,” (the premier lifestyle study of Generations X and Y) as well as the “Tween Report,” “Mom Report” and “New Family Report.”
Kristin received her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Delaware.
