Not everyone gives their two-month old daughter a lesson in make-up application, but that’s exactly what Melisa LaTour did – all caught on hidden camera by her husband. The video has become a cherished keepsake for the family and for LaTour, who carved her own niche by experimenting with make-up as early as seven years old. The happy and confident feelings she found using beauty products at that tender age have been a driving force in her life.

"To me, anything beautiful translates to happiness. It’s not just limited to make-up and skincare; but I define beauty as that which brings a smile to someone’s face."

LaTour has parlayed her love of Beauty into her role as owner and president of MTL Communications, a public relations boutique agency she began in 2006. Combining strong media relation skills with her energy, creativity and passion for promoting clients to new levels, LaTour finds happiness and success discovering the “beauty” in each of her clients’ products and services, and communicating that news to the world.

"Beauty transcends all markets and areas, with the common denominator that it evokes the power of positive feelings," said LaTour, whose experience spans managing Fortune 500 clients to exclusive specialty products. “My passion is to find the beauty within and bring that out. When I am able to capture the beauty of a client’s business – whether that business is fine jewelry, floral design, eco-friendly products, or beauty products – I know I am onto something and success will follow."

One of LaTour’s biggest personal career coups came in 2007 when she was invited to be the Cover Mom for Working Mother magazine’s Mother’s Day issue. Highlighted for managing to balance a start-up with raising her twin children, the feature story garnered her several new clients.

A graduate of Seton Hall University, LaTour began her career at Johnson and Johnson as a sales and marketing liaison.
