Who is Bee?

I have been fortunate to have lived a full life, yet even at my young age, my experiences have opened my eyes to the realities of life. I spent eight years living in Karachi, Pakistan where, everyday, poverty, disease, child labor, and the helplessness of the young and old looked me straight in the eyes.  Most of society became desensitized to this injustice, though I became more aware of social grievances.
…Upon returning to Chicago, I found that while problems were different, the suffering was not.
I spent the next several years providing therapy for abuse victims, for the physically and mentally challenged, and for children embraced by the Department of Child and Family Services.
Along the way, I met those who had a sincere desire to help but did not think they had the means to do so. I learned that there are compassionate people and organizations that would respond generously and bring greater relief to those who needed it most. And I knew that the greatest opportunities for change lay in individual acts of kindness.
